Blur, released in 2010 by Bizarre Creations —the same studio behind Project Gotham Racing—, mixed arcade racing with vehicle combat in a Mario Kart way, but with real licensed cars. Nissan, Ford, Audi, Mercedes, BMW competing with tactical power-ups: Shunt (homing missiles), Mine, Bolt (lightning), Shield, Boost and Nitro. Race, Team Racing, Motor Mash, Destruction modes. The official servers went down after Activision shut down Bizarre Creations in 2011, but the community kept the game alive through private networks and homegrown mods.
