Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, released in 2000 by Westwood Studios, is probably the most over-the-top RTS ever made. Nuclear superweapons, Chronospheres, Iron Curtains, laser dolphins, giant squids, Yuri mind-control weirdness, Tanya dancing over demolition charges, Einstein in a Soviet uniform. Two rival factions (Allies vs Soviets), nine countries per side with unique units, and an expansion —Yuri's Revenge (2001)— that added a full third faction. Frank Klepacki soundtrack, live-action cutscenes, and a construction system that never got old.
