Call of Duty 2, released in 2005 by Infinity Ward, was the game that made half a generation upgrade their video card. The IW2.0 engine brought dynamic smoke shaders, grenades that would gas you out if you didn't move, three World War II fronts (Russian, British, American), iconic weapons (Thompson, MP44, Kar98, PPSh-41, Bren LMG), and that unforgettable detail where if you looked at the sky in certain missions a plane could come crashing down on top of you. Multiplayer had legendary maps: Carentan, Toujane, Burgundy, Brecourt, Matmata.
