Medal of Honor: Airborne, released in 2007 by EA Los Angeles on Unreal Engine 3, put a brilliant spin on the World War II FPS: every mission starts with a parachute jump, and where you land literally decides how you attack the map —you can drop behind enemy lines, onto a roof, straight into the fight, or somewhere safer when that's the play. Five missions across the European theater (Sicily, Avellino, Nijmegen, Der Flakturm, Der Fuhrer) with freedom to hit them from any angle. A hybrid of linear shooter and sandbox that no previous Medal of Honor had tried.
